So, youth ministry has always been a big thing for me, right? A bunch of times you'll see it show up in my posts or whatever.
It's always weird to me, though, because it's such a huge part of my life but most all of my friends and even family members have never really seen me doing youth ministry stuff.
A few weeks ago, I got the opportunity to speak to Uturn (which is the youth ministry here at El Segundo Foursquare Church). I talked about trusting God and facing your fears, which have kinda been the things that I'd been working through with this whole internship experience.
Anyway, the message got recorded, so I thought it might be fun to post a little bit from right at the end, kinda as proof to you guys who haven't really ever seen or heard me do youth ministry that I actually do it. Oh, and to give everyone the opportunity to make fun of the fact that I don't seem to fully understand the concept of a microphone, or that it's pretty obvious that my speaking style is more influenced by dane cook and nick swardson than billy graham or some other preachery guy.
Anywho, here's a little ten minute chunk I like to call the tennis story.

~Bekah~
dude...that was awesome...great story...
Love it.
It reminds me of the racquetball days. And by "racquetball" I mean the endless, traumatizing cycle of you yelling at me to not turn around, then me turning around anyway, then me getting hit somewhere painful, then you yelling again. And somewhere in all of that, me swinging and missing and whining like a girl.
Good times.
You are really good at the whole speaking in public thing...I guess I shouldn't be surprised since you always entertained us at the table in saga. Seriously though, good job. I really enjoyed listening to it and I can tell that you do a great job in youth ministry. I'm glad things are working out so great in Cali. :)
you know it's funny...
my brother and I were just listening to Dane Cook about a week ago and I was thinking, "somebody I know talks like this... uses the same kind of vocal inflection and style of humor..." but it seriously took me about an hour before I figured out that it was you! haha so it's amusing that you said so yourself.
sounds like the summer has been fun for you! I miss hearing your stories... we need to schedule an appointment for you to monologue at the wing table in saga as soon as we all get back. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is itching to hear some Tim stuff.
